Process
Every business has processes. They tend to play a pivotal role in
the completion of work (else why have them?) and yet very few
businesses actually manage their processes.
Whether it’s a product or a service you supply, or both, processes
are the means with which you will do it. It’s what you’ve hired your
staff to do. It is vital that processes are maximised for output and
accuracy.
There are many ways in which a process can fail to perform at its
peak. At Lean Consulting, we specialise in indentifying and fixing:
-
Unnecessary rework
-
Non Value-added tasks
-
Unnecessary handoffs
-
Overproduction
-
Misinterpretation of rules & regulations
-
Tasks misaligned to job function
In our experience, processes tend to evolve over time as business
needs change or are hastily thrown together to accommodate the
urgent launch of a new product or service. How many times have you
heard someone say "we'll do it like this for now and review it
later"? When was the last time someone actually came back a reviewed
a process in your operation?
Then there are the tasks that once had a meaning but the business
and regulatory landscape has shifted so far that the tasks no longer
add any value, and yet staff continue to dutifully fulfil them.
